The one-active-idea rule

Backlogr only allows one active idea per person. The exits are complete or cancel. There is no “pause indefinitely while I chase something shinier.”

That constraint is the product. AI helps you plan and replan, but it will not open a second lane for you. Focus is a feature, not a suggestion.

Why “pause” is a trap

Paused ideas become a graveyard. You tell yourself you’ll return next week. Six weeks later you have three paused projects and zero shipped learning.

What to do instead

1. Finish a thin slice that teaches you something real.
2. Or cancel with a one-line note on why, then move on cleanly.

Cancel is progress when it frees attention for the idea that matters.
